Clown Intensive

Join us for Church of Clown’s Summer Clown Intensive! This course is intended for performers and non performers of all varieties who wish to develop greater physical vocabulary and explore how they are uniquely funny. Learn to trust yourself onstage in a state of true play and originality. Learn to follow your impulses with Delight, Discovery, Generosity, Action, Risk, and Humor! Through clear instruction and feedback, games, and entrances, you will develop a greater awareness of yourself in relation to your partners, your props, and your audience in a safe and fun environment. Prepare to experience the joy of discovery and the celebration of your ridiculous self!
Cost: $475. Limited scholarships available. 2.5 hour class with one 15 min. break.

DAN GRIFFITHS is an award winning theatre maker, director, teacher, and the founder of The Clown Workshop, ClownZero, and KAPOOT Clown Theatre. He has created and performed original theatrical works in over 45 states and 25 countries since 1988. Dan has performed with the Clown troupe Die Hanswurste, with Chicago’s 500 Clown, and internationally for The Department of Defense Overseas Shows. Dan has served as faculty for the Dell'Arte International School of Physical Theatre, Clown Conservatory San Francisco, The School for Mime Theater, Columbia College Chicago, Roosevelt University, Indiana University Northwest and Academy of Art University.
DANA MERWIN is a clown and improviser based in Oakland. Dana has performed at The Moth Grand Slam Los Angeles, South by Southwest Austin, and SF Sketchfest. She has studied improv at Upright Citizens Brigade Los Angeles, Endgames Improv and All Out Comedy. She has trained at the Dell'Arte International School of Physical Theater Intensive, the Clown School of San Francisco, Clown Improv Gym with Chad Damiani and Church of Clown. Her one person show, The Skinny Show - A Roadie’s Guide to Life, was directed by award winning performer Deanna Fleysher. Her 2021 show, Thinking Out Loud, premiered at the Rogue Fringe Festival.
